The Clerkenwell Kitchen
The Clerkenwell Kitchen, opened in 2002 in the Clerkenwell Workshops, is dedicated to creating an ethical and accountable restaurant. The Kitchen sources locally, cooks seasonally and uses organic and free range produce, working closely with producers who deliver directly to the cafe. Suppliers are chosen because they offer the best quality and flavour as well as share a commitment to traditional farming methods and fair trade.
The principles of good home cooking are clearly reflected at The Clerkenwell Kitchen, where you will find simple and well prepared food, with jams, chutneys, pastries and breads and fresh lemonade all made on the premises.
dcarbon8 measured the carbon footprint of The Clerkenwell Kitchen's operations, whcih are already very sustainable. Moving forward, the cafe will continue to engage with suppliers to reduce the footprint of the food and drink it sources. The cafe, voted one of London's top five sustainable restaurants by Time Out, also provides catering for dcarbon8 events.
