dcarbon8 wins Best Micro-Organisation at UK Green Business Awards

5th November 2008

dcarbon8 received the honour of winning  ‘Best Micro-Organization’, one of the three “grand prix” awards, for this year’s UK Green Business Award, as well as a special commendation in the Best Business Services Company category, last night at Grosvenor House.

The Green Business Awards, a barometer of the newest, most innovative, most ambitious and most effective initiatives by UK business to respond to the pressing challenges of global sustainability, highlights and rewards leadership on environment, sustainability and climate change by British companies.

With nearly 130 entrants, dcarbon8 stands out as a company that shows leadership, innovation, rigour and flair in helping to shift British business towards environmental sustainability.

The three “grand prix” categories were open to entrants from all business sector and impact categories, designed to highlight the very best examples of environmental actions by British business that advance the green bottom line. As the winner of the Best Micro Organization award, dcarbon8 earns recognition for the distinct challenges in addressing sustainability and climate change issues that small businesses face.

The expert judge panel, including John Chesshire, Honorary professor at the Science and Technology Policy Research Unit at The University of Sussex, and Alison Austin, Environmental affairs manager at Sainsbury’s Supermarkets, felt the 10-strong company’s focus on embodied carbon in the built environment deserved particular credit.

Judges looked for evidence that entrants have shown leadership, innovation, rigour and flair in helping to shift British business towards environmental sustainability. They also assessed whether new ideas can be replicated by others and therefore have a wider impact on business and society.

The dcarbon8 Supply Chain Network, a total carbon solution, certainly fulfills all these criteria, as it is affordable to join and effective. Our model is global, scalable, and cuts carbon exponentially when supply chains are engaged. dcarbon8’s aim is to stimulate profitable business that is good for the environment, and with the innovative Supply Chain Network and the Planet Positive mark we hope to make a lasting contribution to climate change mitigation.
